We’re close to the half way point in the season and while the Indians have had almost as bad of a run as they did a good run earlier in the season, they’re still hanging in there and they’re a game back of the first place Tigers. They won their opener against the Diamondbacks 5-4 and they did it with a go ahead home run in the ninth by Orlando Cabrera.
Asdrubal Cabrera was one of the hitting stars though. He went two for four with a home run and two RBIs. Lonnie Chisenhall also had a nice game and he went two for four with an RBI.
Mitch Talbot had a rough start and he gave up three runs in five innings of work. Five relievers then combined to hold the Diamondbacks to one run over the final four innings. Chris Perez pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his 19th save of the season.
Josh Tomlin gets the start this evening. The Diamondbacks will throw Daniel Hudson.
