Alright, the Baseball Historians network has had some net problems and that prevented me from posting. Things are back online, as am I so I should be back to regular writing schedule.
Baseball American recently released a lengthy story on pitching prospect Adam Miller. It’s hard to believe that the Indians are as good as they are AND have a guy like Miller waiting in the wings. In seven starts with Buffalo, he’s 4-1 with 39 strikeouts in 44 innings and he has an impressive 2.10/1 groundball to flyball ratio. There’s not a whole lot that Miller has to prove in the minors so we should be seeing him with the Indians if one of the back end starters shows he’s not getting the job done.
The Indians are a game back of the Tigers but they’ve done a good job of keeping pace with a team that was the hottest in baseball. May 25th is the first time the Indians and the Tigers lock up and it’ll be interesting to see where things are at by then. First off though, the Indians have to take care of the struggling Twins. I think whoever wins tonight’s game will win the series because I see C.C. Sabathia and Johan Santana winning their starts later in the week. Of course nothing is certain, which is why they play the games.
And you have to be happy with the way Jhonny Peralta has bounced back this year. His batting average is a concern but he has 16 walks and he leads the team with seven homeruns. At this point, he could match 2006’s season homerun total by the All Star break if he gets hot.
