Next year, the Indians celebrate the 60th anniversary of their last World Series win. Man has it been a long time. They look like they have what it takes to get it done this year but man was that a good team. Larry Doby made his debut that yearand Bob Feller was a bona fide ace. I plan on commerating the season by documenting this outstanding season in a diary format but that’s another story. This is about a DVD I received recently and this is about as cool as it gets for Indians fans.
In there Vintage World Series Films series, A&E has recently come out with a DVD that highlights the 1948 World Series. You don’t get full games, but you get to see Bob Feller and Satchell Paige throw and you get to see Larry Doby rake the ball. The series went six games but three of those were one run games and it made for an exciting series against the Boston Braves. If you’re an Indians fan, this is a slice of history.
As a bonus, you also get a video that highlights some of the great comebacks during the 1995 season. I liked this shorter film, but if you’re going to buy this, it’s for that 1948 series.
