Indians Blow Three Run Lead, ALDS Extended to Game Four

by @ 2:17 am. Filed under 2007 Indians

It’s hard to believe that the Indians had a nice 3-0 lead in this game and I really hope the comeback by the Yankees doesn’t come back to haunt the Indians.  Ryan Garko singled home a run in the first, Trot Nixon homered in the second and Ryan Garko doubled home a run in the third to make it 3-0 Indians before the Yankees started to knock around Jack Westbrook.  By the end of the sixth inning, Westbrook would be gone and the Yankees would have an 8-3 that would eventually be 8-4 after a Trot Nixon RBI double in the eighth.

Westbrook was tagged for six of the eight runs in only five innings of work.  He didn’t walk anyone, but nine hits in five innings doesn’t usually cut it  For whatever reason, they used Joe Borowski in the ninth inning, maybe because he hadn’t pitched in so long.

Game four is tonight.  Paul Byrd will try to lock things up for the Indians and the Yankees will throw Chien-Ming Wang on short rest.  A loss tonight would make me very, very nervous.
