Maybe these little two game series aren’t all bad because for the second time this week, the Indians swept their two game series. This time it was over the Rangers and in both games, the Indians scored a bunch of runs. The pitching was only so so but the bats picked them up.
Yesterday, it took eleven innings for the Indians to come out on top. After Joe Borowski blew another one and gave up a run in the ninth, Jhonny Peralta came through with an RBI single in the twelth to win it. C.C. Sabathia was roughed up for five runs in six innings and Fernando Cabrera picked up the win with a really nice relief appearance. He threw two shutout innings and he struck out five. Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and two RBIs in the 8-7 win and Peralta finished with two hits, a run and an RBI.
Today’s game went a little smoother. The Indians jumped out in front with five runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Paul Byrd cruised to an easy win and he gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings. Peralta hit his third homerun and Trot Nixon also hit one over the fence. Both Choo and Nixon scored two runs a piece.
No rest this week as the Orioles roll into town for three games. If the Indians stay in first by the end of the series, I’ll be happy because that’s all I’m asking for.
