Indians Pitching Hammered in Sweep By Yankees

by @ 5:05 pm. Filed under 2007 Indians

Alright, this was just downright ugly.  Indians pitching gave up at least eight runs in each of the three games with today’s game having a complete meltdown by Joe Borowski.

If there is such a thing, Tuesday’s game was the worst of the three.  Jake Westbrook was dismantled the day he signed a big contract extension and he gave up eight runs on eight hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings.  Travis Hafner went yard in the 10-3 loss and he and Casey Blake were the only two Indians with two hits.

Yesterday, it was Jeremy Sowers who was knocked around.  He got bombed for six runs on nine hits and a walk and he actually made it 2 2/3 innings.  Travis Hafner was the offense and he had three of the Indians five hits as well as one RBI in the 9-2 loss.

This afternoon, the start was there with Fausto Carmona threw six solid innings.  Aaron Fultz and Rafael Betancourt each threw a scoreless inning and then Borowski came into the game and proceeded to give up hit after hit.  When the dust settled, a 6-2 lead turned into an 8-6 loss and Borowski was tagged for six runs, two of which went over the fence.

It’s time to regroup and there’s no better way then playing a three game series against perennial door mat, the Devil Rays.  C.C. Sabathia gets the start in the opener and I like our chances in that opener.
