So far, things have gone pretty well since that horific series with the Yankees. The lastest is a three game winning streak with two of those coming in Minnesota against the formerly first place Twins. I say formerly because the Indians now have the top spot but just 1/2 game seperate first and fourth. We knew it’d be tight for a while so now hopefully the Indians can keep on winning and break out.
On Monday, the Indians blew a 3-0 lead but they hung to win it 7-4 in 12 innings. Victor Martinez had a big game at the plate and he went two for five with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Travis Hafner was a perfect four for four with two runs and two walks in the win. Jeremy Sowers had a nice start and he gave up three runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts and he pitched seven innings. Roberto Hernandez threw two shutout innings and he picked up the win.
Yesterday’s game looked closer, but the Indians led this one from the first inning on with some solid hitting against Johan Santana. Travis Hafner took him deep in the first to put the Indians on the board and Trot Nixon had a solid game at the plate. He went two for four with an RBI in the 5-2 win. Fautso Carmona picked up his first win of the season with a nice start. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings. Joe Borowski gave up a run in the ninth but he held on to pick up his eighth save of the season.
Next up is two against the Rangers at home. C.C. Sabathia will hopefully be able to keep the winning streak going in the opener tonight.
