Jake Westbrook got it done last night and he was able to do what both C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona couldn’t and that was pitch into the seventh inning in the ALCS. Westbrook held the Red Sox in check for six innings and then he was finally tagged for two runs in the seventh on a two run homer by Jason Varitek. That was it though as Rafael Betancourt and Joe Borowski pitched shutout innings a piece to close out the game.
Kenny Lofton put the Indians on the board in the second inning with a two run shot. Then they Indians added two more runs in the fifth when Asdrubal Cabrera singled home a run and then Grady Sizemore scored when Travis Hafner hit into a fielders’ choice. Cabrera was the only Indian with two hits and in total, the Red Sox actually outhit the Indians 7-6.
Tim Wakefield gets the nod in a huge game four tonight. The Indians will go with Paul Byrd, who had a solid start against the Yankees in the ALDS.
