Indians 12, White Sox 11 (5-0)
It wasn’t pretty and the pitchers gave up eleven runs but the Indians escaped with their fifth straight win to open up the season. Lou Boudreau had the big game with five hits, four RBIs and two runs. All but three of the runs were scored in the first five frames and it was basically two different games. Eddie Robinson had the game winning hit with a solo homer in the top of the fourteenth and that was his second homer of the game.
Bob Feller was called on to pitch the final inning when Warren Christopher got into trouble in the bottom of the fourteenth. With two men on, Feller came on to get the Indians out of the jam so they could keep their perfect record intact.
