The Indians lost their first game Thursday despite a great pitching effort by Jake Westbrook. Westbrook pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up two runs on six hits. The Indians were unable to push across the tying run in th eighth and ninth innings, or even get a base runner for that matter. This was a common trend throughout the game as the Indians were only able to put up two hits against Octavio Dotel, who is now 1-1 on the season. The Indians next game is Friday night at Oakland. The pitching match-up is going to be Paul Byrd for the Indians hurling against Justin Duchscherer of Oakland.
